Fleurieu Peninsula SA
Fleurieu Peninsula, with its magnificent coastline and hinterland, was named after an early French Navy Minister and is located just south of Adelaide (100 km at its most southern point). This proximity and accessibility has assured its popularity for both weekend visits and as a holiday destination. There is an abundance of fine wineries here as well as gourmet produce which can easily be found by following the Mount Compass Gourmet Trail. Interesting towns in this region include Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Rapid Bay and the McLaren Vale wine region. Great surfing beaches are found at Waitpinga and Browns Beach while a ferry service operates between Cape Jervis and fabulous Kangaroo Island.
