Barnham Bridge over the Murray

The Murray Region Vic

Picture: The Barnham Bridge connecting NSW and VIC at Koondrook

The Murraylands and Mallee country are located in North West and Mid North Victoria. The area spans from the SA border in the west to Shepparton a distance of about 500 km. Large areas in the western part of this region have been under irrigation for over a century resulting in the cultivation of citrus fruits, grapes and olives. However great sections of mallee scrub are still obvious interspersed with lakes and rivers and protected by Murray-Sunset and Wyperfeld NPs. Heading further east towards the Goulburn and Murray rivers, rich farming lands are found together with canneries and processing plants for all the irrigated produce.
